Japanese Mixed-Metal Ritual Tanto
Meiji Period, 19th Centurythe double-edged ken blade with a single silver habaki decorated with stylised waves, one side of the blade with carved depiction of Fudou Myou-Ou on a background of flames, the reverse with bonji inscription and lotus rendai, the gold mekugi of simple circular form connecting to the vajra-shaped hilt, the impressive scabbard entwined by a silver dragon with gold flames emanating from its body
