Martin Sharp (1942-2013)

Tiny Tim, 1982

screenprint on paper, signed with dedication l.c. ‘Dear Jim – wish you’d be there! love Mat Sharp, .7.12. – 83.’

The eternal troubadour.
Martin Sharp was obsessed with Arthur Stace, who anonymously chalked Eternity on pavements, and the troubadour Tiny Tim. Beginning in New York folk cellars with Bob Dylan, Tiny’s repertoire was a compendium of pop music. Martin persuaded him to perform it in marathon concerts in Luna Park and the Sydney Opera House.
