Martin Sharp (1942-2013)
Adelaide Festival 5-21 Mar. 82.screenprint on paper
Explosion. Celebration. Signed.
As the first Australian to helm the Adelaide Festival since Robert Helpmann, I set out to create a Festival of International and Australian premieres. This approach was heralded by Martin Sharp’s vivid poster. One of Martin’s best, it’s peopled by characters from popular culture from Boofhead to Dame Edna. They’re silhouetted against a night sky, illuminated by cascading musical notes and a blaze of fireworks exploding across the city skyline. Rare. Signed.
