John Ridgeway Blue Ground Dessert Service, c 1850
comprising of a large comport, two medium comports, three low comports and a squat comport, all with two handles and twenty-four plates each painted within a central reserve with a notable English landmark or waterway encircled by a gilt border against aroyal blue ground banded by a ring of pale yellow and with all over heavily gilded scrollwork and foliage, the handles of fruiting vine design with gilt highlighting against white, the reverse with titles, pattern numbers 6/264
