Combining dance, drama, performance and visual art, German choreographer Pina Bausch’s work revolutionised dance in the late twentieth century. A highlight of my 1982 Adelaide Festival, the visit of Pina Bausch’s company influenced dance for decades to come. A visceral image from Pina’s take on Bartok’s Bluebeard’s Castle, a work soon to be revived at L’Opera de Paris.
