Andrew Shapiro
Managing Director

Andrew Shapiro is Managing Director of Shapiro Auctioneers Australia. His career in the auction industry spans 30 years, from bases in New York, London and Sydney.
In 1984, Mr Shapiro joined Phillips New York, where he established his reputation as a leading specialist in 19th and 20th Century Fine and Decorative Arts and became a senior vice-president. In 1990 he arrived in Australia and introduced auction sales for Phillips Australia.
Mr Shapiro was profiled in the international publication, Art and Auction (Nov 2000) as the progressive leader in the Australian auction industry.
In 2001 Andrew Shapiro led the management buy-out of Phillips International Auctioneers from Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy across Australia. Over the next seven years Shapiro Auctioneers has confirmed its position in the auction industry as a leader in Australian and International Art, Aboriginal Art, 20/21 Century Design, Traditional Furniture and Decorative Art in particular English and European Silver and Objets d'vertu. Significant one owner collections have highlighted many of the past years including the K R Bernard Smith Collection, The Property of A Gentleman, the L Richard Smith Collection, the New Collection and many others. Record prices in all areas of 20th Century Australian and International Design for silver, glass, furniture and books as well as the highest prices recorded for European sculpture and painting keep Shapiro Auctioneers in the forefront of buyers and sellers.
Rohan Hawthorn
Operations Manager

Rohan Hawthorn is the Operations Manager of Shapiro Auctioneers Australia and a specialist in Australian and International Fine Art.
Rohan's career in the auction industry spans 10 years, begining his career at Goodman Auctions and progressing to lead the National Head of IT at Bonhams Auctioneers. At Bonhams he was responable for significant one owner collections including those of Lindsay Fox, John Laws, the Estate of Rudy Komon as well as the liquidation of MG Rover. After leaving the auction industry Rohan was manager at Andrew Crawford Gallery before starting his own consultancy agency, his clients including Tim Storrier who he worked with to assist in cataloguing and managing the artist's private and historical collection.
In 2009, Rohan returned to the auction industry, joining the team at Shapiro Auctioneers and Gallery.
