Lot 147 Diamond Solitaire Ring Sold $39,600 IBP

The Fine Jewellery and Luxury Design Sale held on Wednesday 17 October achieved strong results throughout the evening at Shapiro Auctioneers.

Consisting of two hundred and seventy six lots, the auction showcased an impressive selection of gold and gem set jewellery. Sale highlights include $39,600 IBP for Lot 147, the Diamond Solitaire Ring and $15,600 IBP for Lot 77, the French 19th Century Enamel Pendant Beetle Pendant Watch and Chain.

Gold results exceeded expectation with international, interstate and local buyers alike, with prices achieved well above the estimates. Lot 9, a gold link bracelet, sold for $6,720 IBP against a lower estimate of $4,000; Lots 10 and 11, the gold and coral necklaces, saw $3,120 IBP against lower estimates of $1,000 each; Lot 14, the Farren Price gold bracelet, sold for $2,880 IBP against a lower estimate of $800 and Lot 210, the mesh multi coloured braclet, sold for $3,120 against the initial estimate of $800.

A notable collection of Cartier Jewellery from a local estate realised 100% clearance by value. Lot 50, Cartier Pair of Gold Earrings, sold for $1,500 IBP against the lower estimate of $800; Lot 51, the Cartier Gold Note Pad, sold for $5,280 IBP against the initial estimate of $3,000; and Lot 59, the Cartier New Wave Ring, sold for $1,680 IBP against the estimate of $800.

A collection of vintage Tiffany and Co. pieces achieved double their estimates.

Watches proved a popular section with a 90% sale rate. Lot 167, the Vacheron Constantin watch, sold for $3,360 IBP against a lower estimate of $800; Lot 170, the Patek Philippe watch, achieved $6,000 IBP against a lower estimate of $2,000; Lot 176, the Faberge Agathon watch, sold for $12,600; and Lot 177, the Frank Muller Diamond Set Watch, sold for $17,400 IBP against a lower estimate of $15,000.

Luxury Design remains in demand with the majority of couture labeled handbags exceeding estimates.
